There are all kinds of essay assignments that you are going to have to deal with in college and one of the most unique and difficult to handle could be the compare and contrast essay.

The point with this sort of essay is to point out the similarities and the differences that can be found in any kind of subject.

This means that you are going to have to do a great deal of research on both sides in order to get the kind of results that are going to make sure that the paper is written properly and that you get the kind of results that you want.

There are always going to be topics that are similar and at the same time very different.

For example, you could talk about the difference between reading the book Jaws and watching the movie Jaws based on the book.

The similarities

There will be quite a few similarities in the stories and you can start by pointing those out.

The characters names, the main plot and the way that the story unfolds are all similar aspects about this process.

You need to on as much detail about this and give the reader compelling reasons why both experiences are similar enough to allow for a very good experience to be had.

The differences

This is going to be an even lengthier part of the process because you are going to have to start talking about the things that are different between the book and the movie.

An obvious difference between books and movies is that books are often going to be due to the detailed conversations that need to be cut short for movies due to the time limitations that most films have.

You also need to get involved in the details that set both the films and books apart in terms of how the characters behave and what kind of actions they take in as much detail as possible.

Books tend to be more descriptive due to the lack of imagery to work with, while movies will usually cut back on many things just to save time.

Now you need to develop your thesis

At this point, you need to start showing people reasons why one of the subjects is better than the other.

There is no way to call it a tie when you have such different ways of delivering the same story.

You need to think of the pros and cons of each one and you have to remember to state your case with as much proof to back up your decision on which of the two is better and why.

Organize your essay properly

Remember that you are going to need a solid introduction that is followed by the body paragraphs and the acknowledgment of the competitive arguments that you have decided to engage.

Then you need to create a good conclusion that is going to allow the reader to get enough information to make a decision and to back up your arguments.

Get someone to read it

The most important thing with this kind of essay is to make sure that it makes sense.

The problem is that it could make sense to the writer because they understand both topics, but it could be a mess for a reader that is not familiar with the topic.

In order to avoid this, you should get people to read the essay and see how they feel about it.

Ask them if they understand it clearly or if they feel that something is missing.
